This is a sewing machine manufactured by Jones Sewing Machine Company (Jones), the first UK sewing machine manufacturer founded in 1869. One hundred years later, in 1968, Brother acquired Jones and drastically increased its market share of sewing machines in the United Kingdom. This acquisition of the historical UK sewing machine manufacturer by the Japanese sewing machine manufacturer received much attention at that time.
