In the 1950s, there were many motorcycle manufacturers in the Tokai district. Brother also advanced the development of motorcycles by utilizing its high-precision processing technology and produced 300 units on a trial basis in 1956. After that, however, Brother decided to enter into the typewriter field and was concerned that the simultaneous development of typewriters and motorcycles might adversely impact its operations. In addition, affected by Isewan Typhoon or Typhoon Vera, Brother withdrew from the motorcycle business in 1959.
