Brother developed an online karaoke system by utilizing the technology of converting data to a digital signal and transmitting it over communication lines, which was acquired in the development of “TAKERU”. The most common machines in the Japanese karaoke market in those days were laser disc karaoke machines. They were slow to be updated with new songs and had a limited number of songs. This online karaoke system solved these problems and provided a completely new service that was able to meet new customer needs.
